Executive Director

Helen brings 35 years of professional leadership experience to BMD from the nonprofit, corporate and public service sectors. She held leadership positions in government relations and communications and public affairs working for two high-profile telecommunications and cable media & entertainment trade associations. An articulate spokesperson, advocating on behalf of industries through well-crafted national consumer and education awareness campaigns. Helen initially developed her operations, P&L and staff management skills working with two DC-based Marriott International managed properties. Other leadership roles included Deputy Executive Director, Cable in the Classroom and more recently the Executive Director, Sweet Virginia Foundation.

As an advocate and community leader, Helen served in a variety of volunteer board positions. She was the 2015 President, National Woman’s Party with oversight of its historic home, the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum. Under her leadership she executed the final transfer of the historic home to the National Park Service through a Presidential proclamation signed by President Obama (April 2016). Other volunteer board positions have included 2014 First Vice President, Cleveland Park Citizens Association and 2004 President, Women in Cable & Telecommunications – Washington/Baltimore Chapter. Bronwyn Towle spent eight years as the Assistant Director of the MusicLink Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing musical opportunities to deserving youth. In this capacity she was responsible for fundraising, communications, donor relations and database management.

Before transitioning to the non-profit community, Bronwyn was responsible for issue advocacy and legislative affairs for the U.S. Department of State and the private firm of Hecht, Spencer & Associates.

Inspired by the community she has lived in for over 20 years, Bronwyn has worked and volunteered with the Arlington Career Center, McKinley Elementary School, Hoffman Boston Elementary School, the Arlington Free Clinic and the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

Bronwyn holds a MS, International Relations from the University of San Diego and a BA, International Relations and Spanish. Bronwyn enjoys traveling, new museum exhibits and running.
