Scandalous Spring: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring at 100

In Cooperation with the Embassy of France

Join BMD dancer Dustin Kimball at this Smithsonian Associates lecture featuring the history of Stravinsky’s original Rite of Spring and the chaos that ensued during its premiere in 1913.  Spend a day at the Embassy of France and explore and experience this extraordinary work in a seminar led by Yvonne Caruthers, cellist with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Dustin will shares film clips and discusses how Lucy Bowen McCauley created her version of the work and the influence of the original on modern productions.
