Jacqueline Buglisi, outgoing Council Chair, Lucy Bowen McCauley, and Amy Fitterer, Executive Director, Dance/USA

BMD is proud to announce Lucy Bowen McCauley’s appointment to Council Chair of Dance/USA’s Board of Trustees. Dance/USA is a national service organization and is the only national provider dedicated to serving a broad cross-section of professional dance.

Lucy has been a dedicated professional in the field of dance for more than 20 years and has served as a mentor to up-and-coming dance professionals as part of the Dance/USA mentorship program for the past two years. Due to their successful pairing, Lucy and mentee Kate Hutter, were invited to share their experience at the Annual Conference in San Francisco in 2012.

This year, Lucy returned to the Annual Conference as a guest speaker for a panel discussion with David Leventhal, Program Manager for Mark Morris Dance Group; Douglas Singleton, Executive Director of North Carolina Dance Theatre; and James Nelson, Executive Director of Houston Ballet. The panel’s case studies highlighted innovative outreach programs such as Dance for PD and their transformative effect on the lives of underserved communities while creating cross-industry partnerships.

Lucy is honored to fulfill this new role as Artists Council Chair for Dance/USA and looks forward to providing continued experience, leadership, and expertise in the field of dance. Serving on the Dance/USA Board of Trustees requires an elevated level of commitment, including participation in Board meetings and council calls, attendance at the annual conference, and increased fundraising and advocacy efforts. Lucy is excited to build stronger relationships among her peers, gain greater awareness of the artistic challenges facing other organizations, and to help develop creative solutions for shared problems and disseminate successful strategies.
