BMD Well-Received at the Fringe

Bowen McCauley Dance enjoyed a weekend of performances at GALA Theatre at Tivoli Square as part of the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival. With all the festival buzz and community enthusiasm, BMD was excited to participate for the first time in Washington, D.C.’s favorite experimental summer arts festival. The 18 day festival included over 130 shows and 745 performances by local artists at 18 venues throughout D.C. Our performances helped bring the festival to a successful close with excellent reviews by DC Metro Theatre Arts and DC Theatre Scene.

Fire and Air, “…beautifully played and filled with lush strings – that builds to a blazing ending. Bowen McCauley Dance’s Artistic Director and Choreographer Lucy Bowen McCauley (as Cleopatra) and Alvaro Palau (Mark Anthony) danced with passion, sensuality, and sizzling chemistry.” – Joel Markowitz, DC Metro Theatre Arts. “The dancers were quite literally right next to me, and I could see their straining muscles and the beads of sweat on their skin. It was a beautiful way to invite the audience into the work by seeing the dancers’ effort up close.” – DC Theatre Scene’s Kate Farley on the final section of Afoot in Vienna. Read the full review.
