Lucy Returns to Hometown to Set Choreography

BMD celebrates 2015 with new creative partnerships and collaborations with a host of accomplished musicians and performing artists.

This month, Artistic Director, Lucy Bowen McCauley will return to her hometown of Indianapolis, IN to set Tableaux de Provence on Dance Kaleidoscope’s company of professional dancers. McCauley has been invited to join three other choreographers who are in demand to remount their works.

Tableaux de Provence, is a five-part “finely danced” work inspired by the music of French composer Paule Maurice which first premiered at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2013. The Washington Post described the piece as “bubbly musical lines sometimes running in counterpoint to the pensive or buoyant-but-serene movement.”

“It is a thrill for me to go back to Indianapolis to choreograph on a fine company like Dance Kaleidoscope; not just because the company is in my home town, but because the size and aesthetic of our companies are closely aligned,” says Lucy Bowen McCauley.

McCauley’s Tableaux de Provence will be performed as part of The Next Wave on May 14–17 at OneAmerica Stage at IRT in Indianapolis, IN. The concert will showcase four very differed movement styles. Tickets can be purchased online at
