Bowen McCauley Dance presented the 6th Annual Move Me Festival on Saturday, March 21 with 1,020 attendees. This year’s event included over twenty arts, fitness, and cultural organizations from our community.
With 1,020 attendees, Bowen McCauley Dance’s 6th Annual Move Me Festival was a success! Move Me is a FREE family-friendly celebration of the arts and culture, promoting healthy lifestyles through movement and the arts, and featuring performances and artistic activities by local arts partners. The festival focuses on the need to “Get Active, Get Creative, Get Involved.”
BMD was proud to partner with over 20 different arts organizations from the Metro DC area to provide an afternoon of exciting performances and activities. With this family festival, BMD endeavors to build a deeper sense of community and create accessible opportunities for the public to engage in arts activities. Participating arts partners offered performances, demonstrations, and activities for children ranging from toddlers to teens and adults.
BMD and the arts partners presented twenty live performances on two stages inspired by the festival theme, “Evolution of the Arts.” There were fifteen interactive activity sessions to choose from in five spaces, featuring offerings in dance fitness, acapella, physical theatre, storytelling, theatre games, and world dance – a chance for the whole family to experience dance, music, theater, and more! Throughout the festival there were arts and crafts, information about the cultural and fitness offerings in the Arlington community, and two food trucks – The Big Cheese and Fava Pot.
The festival culminated with an energetic performance by Arlington’s own Bowen McCauley Dance professional company, and with special performances by the participants in BMD’s Dance for PD program for people with Parkinson’s Disease, BMD’s Kenmore Junior Company and students from Marshall Road Elementary School Residency.
This festival was made possible by our many sponsors, including the Washington Forrest Foundation, Dominion Foundation, Arlington Community Foundation, Kenmore PTA, Ballston Bid, Perfect Pointe Dance Studio, and Bean, Kinney & Korman, PC.
