We are thrilled to be leaping into our 20th anniversary year! Enjoy this Love Letter from Lucy.
While we are proud of our past seasons, we are ecstatic that this year’s programs and services reflect the remarkable growth and depth of BMD.
I am enormously grateful to all of the dancers who have shared their talents with us over these twenty years. You are the foundation of the Company! And heartfelt thanks to all of the Board members, designers, musicians, composers, technicians, staff, volunteers and friends who have helped make BMD the wonderful organization it is today. Most of all, I want to thank our supporters, students and audience members who like what we do, believe in our cause, and have sustained our work for twenty years!
This season has a theme of Love and all its many facets. As for romantic love, my new work, inspired by Ovid’s Ars Amatoria, demonstrates that when it comes to the heart, things haven’t changed that much over the centuries! Our Music Director, Larry Alan Smith, will write the score and the full premiere will be unveiled at the Kennedy Center in March.
Speaking of love, it pleases me to no end to see how our outreach programs have grown in size and scope. I love these programs! Sharing dance with others in so many creative ways is rewarding and an essential part of who we are.
