Arlington, VA – Bowen McCauley Dance Co. (BMDC) returns to the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater for a two-night spring performance Friday, June 19 & Saturday, June 20, 7:30 PM. Join us for a memorable European inspired journey from Turkey to Germany. The program offers three world premieres set to live music, fabulous dancers, and guest artists that demonstrate the growth of this DC metro area Co. of 24 years.

Experience an expanded collaboration between two award-winning artists, Choreographer, Lucy Bowen McCauley and Turkish Composer, Erberk Eryilmaz. The show will open with a reprise of “Dances of the Yogurt Maker,” McCauley and Eryilmaz first collaboration, which was commissioned by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (March 2019). Next, we present the Kardelen Turkish Dance Ensemble of Washington, DC for an authentic traditional Turkish Folk dance. The first half of the program will close with the premiere of “Imago” choreographed by Lucy and set to six songs from German/Croatian Composer, Nikola Glassl, played live by the Company’s Music Director and Composer’s grandson, Nikola Paskalov with soprano, Karin Paludan.

After intermission, there will be a rhythmic and choreographic tour de force with Lucy’s interpretation of Erberk’s “Insistent Music.” This new composition, written especially for Lucy, will feature eight Company dancers and five musicians from Hoppa Project – Evie Chen, Samuel Park, Laura Krentzman, and Bree Ahern, including Erberk on piano and percussion.

Performance ticket information will be available soon.

The VIP Experience , Saturday, June 20, 9:15 PM, at the Kennedy Center Rooftop Terrace Restaurant will include cast, crew, and VIPs for champagne and desserts. The event proceeds go directly to support BMDC’s community engagement programs in K-12 dance residencies and the Dance for Parkinson’s Disease programs.
