A message from BMDC’s Board Chairman

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We hope that you and yours are in good health and safe as we come face-to-face with the impact brought on by the COVID-19 Pandemic. On behalf of the Board of Directors of Bowen McCauley Dance Company, we are writing to provide an update on current operations and to ask for your help during the unprecedented times facing our community.

You may have heard by now that the Company’s spring performances, weekly Dance for Parkinson’s Disease programs, and K-12 school shows/workshops have all been cancelled or postponed. Fortunately, our planned Kennedy Center shows have been rescheduled for June 19 and 20. We really look forward to getting our dancers back into rehearsal and hope you can join us for this spectacular event.

For a small arts nonprofit it has had a crippling effect on BMDC’s ability to employ our Professional Dancers, Teaching Artists, and Staff in the short-term while at the same time removing or delaying the performance revenue that we count on to fund our community outreach activities. We are looking at virtual platforms for our Parkinson’s dance classes and have re-released our K-12 STEM educational curriculum free to teachers and parents.

Like so many hard-hit small arts nonprofits, more difficult days lie ahead. We are pursuing all possible financial options for short-term relief so that we can care for our Dancers, Teaching Artists and Staff. We are asking for your help at this time to please consider a donation to BMDC. No amount is too small.

We thank you for your support and friendship over the past 24 seasons, and we look forward to getting through this difficult time as we prepare to celebrate the Kennedy Center and our 25th season next year.
