Two Artists Reunite – The Kennedy Center Performances
June 20 @ 7:30 pm
Bowen McCauley Dance Company’s two-night performances have been rescheduled at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Join us for a memorable European inspired journey from Turkey to Germany. The program offers two world premieres set to live music, fabulous dancers, and guest artists that demonstrate the growth of this DC metro area Company of 24 years.
Experience an expanded collaboration between two award-winning artists, Choreographer, Lucy Bowen McCauley and Turkish Composer, Erberk Eryilmaz. The show will open with a reprise of “Dances of the Yogurt Maker,” McCauley and Eryilmaz’s first collaboration, commissioned by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (March 2019). Next, we present the Kardelen Turkish Dance Ensemble for an authentic traditional Turkish Folk dance. The first half of the program will close with the premiere of “Imago” choreographed by Lucy and set to six songs from German/Croatian Composer, Nikola Glassl, played live by the Company’s Music Director and the Composer’s grandson, Nikola Paskalov with soprano, Karin Paludan.
After intermission, there will be a rhythmic and choreographic tour de force with Lucy’s interpretation of Erberk’s “Insistent Music.” This new composition, written especially for Lucy, will feature eight Company dancers and five musicians from Hoppa Project that include: Evie Chen, Samuel Park, Laura Ann Krentzman, and Bree Ahern with Erberk on piano and percussion.
