Spring Virtual Performance Opener
May 26 @ 7:30 pm
Bowen McCauley Dance Company returns for a “live from the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater” performance. The event will be simulcast via web streaming for viewing from the comfort of your home. Lucy and artists will open the performance with a pre-show discussion at 7:00 PM.
The show will open with a reprise of “Dances of the Yogurt Maker”, Lucy Bowen McCauley and Turkish Composer Erberk Eryilmaz’s first collaboration, commissioned by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (March 2019).
In celebration of the Company’s 25th and final Season, we will take a look back and honor two of our longtime principal dancers, Alicia Curtis and Dustin Kimball, with a screening of the filmed version of “Far Behind” which was choreographed by Lucy and set to live music by Jason and The Scorchers (the full-length production, “Victory Road”, premiered at the Kennedy Center in April 2015).
After intermission, there will be a world premiere of “Trois Rêves” choreographed by Lucy, set to Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit for piano and played live by pianist Nikola Paskalov. “Trois Rêves” features seven Company dancers and highlights the graceful sweeping movements that only a Ravel composition could deliver. The three dream sequences that Lucy has created will make you swoon, tense, lean-in, and laugh all in one amazing dance.
This is a private performance and guests must RSVP to participate.
