Interview with Lucy Bowen McCauley – Why Move Me Matters
Tell us a bit about the history of the Move Me Festival.
Four years ago, we launched this free family- friendly afternoon festival at Kenmore Middle School. Each year, the festival has grown in size and scope with the focus set on all the arts, especially dance. Kenmore is an obviously choice for us because we have been in residence with the school for six years. We view the Festival as a way to engage our community in The Arts through interactive activities and energizing performances.
What is the significance of the festival to BMD’s role as a leader in the community?
We are committed to serving the region by offering a variety of programming throughout the year, particularly in public and private schools. Move Me is our opportunity to throw open the doors to introduce the community to a variety of art forms on a Saturday afternoon. Bowen McCauley Dance is known for its collaborative spirit and inclusiveness and the Move Me Festival is a great example of these qualities!
What do you feel is the most important aspect of the festival and why does it matter to you?
