Performing Arts Education
BMDC achieves its mission of sharing the joy of dance with all-ages through its community outreach programs.
Student Dance Residencies
Bowen McCauley Dance offers K-12 students free, weekly dance training and performance opportunities in– and after-school setting. Our programs align with Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLs) and classes are taught by BMDC’s professional Teaching Artists.
Studio to the Stage!
For the serious dance student, BMDC offers arts-integrated workshops and customized multi-day student residencies for all grade levels. Students learn, ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and modern dance from a professional Teaching Artist. We infuse dance instruction from our company repertoire along with new choreography, guiding students through an authentic warm-up and performance rehearsal process. The program is fun and fast-paced providing dancers with the physical demands of preparing for a performance at the end of each session.
In-School Dance Performances
BMDC provides in-school dance performances that include interactive elements to engage students in the performing arts.
Artistic Director and Choreographer, Lucy Bowen McCauley provides pre-professional master classes in a variety of settings. They include University Dance students or professional dance companies.

We provide Studio to Stage dance camp for dancers of all abilities through the Bullis Summer Camp programs in Potomac, MD. Each day, participants’ warm-up, take technique class, learn Company choreography and have fun!
