Workshops/Residencies

Lucy with students from the Department of Theatre and Dance at Salisbury University and Mary Norton, Artistic Director, SU Dance Company
Bowen McCauley Dance enjoys providing workshops and master classes to colleges and universities. Classes are typically taught by Lucy Bowen McCauley or other key company members and feature movement from the company repertoire. Our collaborations with institutions of higher education are usually designed around residency programs that can include stand-alone master classes; a master class, artist talk/lecture, and a BMD evening concert; or a week-long series of master classes, performances, and staging of BMD repertoire. Residencies, workshops, and repertoire can be tailored to the specific needs of the university’s dance program or performing arts series. Get booking information.
Workshops and residencies are not just limited to colleges and universities. These programs can also be formatted for pre-professional programs within primary and secondary schools which emphasize the arts, including public, private, conservatory, and performing arts schools.
Additionally, BMD offers workshops and master classes to the local community when on tour. Master classes are open to the general public and include a wide range of ages and abilities. Classes can be tailored to people with little to no dance experience or they can be designed to include various skill levels. Workshops and master classes are focused around experiencing the artistic process, teaching excerpts from the company repertoire, and emphasizing BMD’s belief that dance is for everyone.
